Long table around st. Vitus Cathedral

Prague Castle is opening its doors to the public again after years. Let's sit together at one table and inscribe our hearts around the cathedral ❤️

Almost three years after the long table event on Charles Bridge, our association "Piána na ulici" is organizing another long table. This time, we will meet in the very heart of Czech statehood - at Prague Castle.

On the bridge, we connected both banks of the Vltava River with a five hundred-meter-long tablecloth line. Now, around the cathedrals of St. Vitus, Wenceslas, and Adalbert, we will set up a table approximately four hundred meters long, forming the shape of a heart.

We will cover the table with a white tablecloth and decorate it with flowers. No refreshments will be provided. Everyone should bake a cake at home, prepare an egg spread, fill a picnic basket, and then come with friends to our table, ideally sharing it with their neighbor.

We do not provide any program; the people who come are the program.

We are organizing this table as a symbol of the new openness of Prague Castle. As a symbol of togetherness. Just as both banks of Prague citizens and ideological opponents could meet on Charles Bridge, we invite anyone here. People do not have to agree with each other, but they can sit together at a common table.

To a table shaped like a heart. Around the heart of the Czech land. Only birds might see this heart. But the fact that such a shape is formed might have some hidden impact.

The table is an ancient symbol. Contracts were signed at it, proposals were made, families gathered, and children were born. By placing this table near the cathedral, we allow people to experience this space anew. People will be able to appreciate the amazing architecture and the atmosphere of the whole place.

We would like to organize these long tables every year. Each time in a different location in Prague (such as Old Town Square, Nusle Bridge), but also in other cities in the Czech Republic.

The table at the castle will take place on June 12 from 5:30 pm to 10 pm.

We thank the Office of the President of the Republic and the Administration of Prague Castle for their kind support of this event 💗
